London/Oslo/Abu Dhabi (16/01/2009): The first edition of Recharge – a global renewable energy news publication – is revealed at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi this coming week. Recharge’s global news organisation will create a premium multi-channel news publication for renewable energy business professionals and policy makers, consisting of a weekly newspaper and a continuously updated online news service (www.rechargenews.com). Recharge is a major new initiative of the Norwegian NHST Media Group.

Christopher Hopson, the Editor-in-Chief of Recharge says: ”Recharge will relentlessly pursue accurate, exclusive and independent news in every corner of the globe. The new publication will cover business activity, finance, innovation, M&A and policy developments across the renewable energy sectors, including wind; solar; wave, tidal and hydro, geothermal and biofuels. The daring news content will be supported by regular features, opinions, and profiles offering an inside view of the issues and people that make a difference in the industry.”

At launch Recharge will have in place a network of ten reporters located around the world. All are experienced journalists, who know the renewables scene and are solely employed by Recharge. They will provide the content to the weekly newspaper and supply the online news service with daily updates. Recharge is headquartered in London and Oslo, with other offices dotted around globe.

The NHST Media Group already publishes the world’s most read news publications for the oil and gas sector (Upstream), the shipping sector (TradeWinds) and the seafood sector (Intrafish), making it a significant force in the global industry news publishing market. With Recharge, NHST takes its well-tested formula of editorial integrity and hard-hitting news to the world’s most dynamic industry sector, to attract a new audience of renewable energy business executives and policy makers.

”We have launched Recharge because there has been a gap in the market for a quality news outlet serving the information needs of renewable energy professionals. A rapidly maturing sector needs the support of a quality source of intelligence” says Gunnar Bjørkavåg, CEO of NHST Media Group.

Mr Bjørkavåg comments: ”It might seem bold to launch a brand new publication in present market conditions, but the timing is great: Renewable energy remains a most buoyant industry and an area of strategic investment around the globe. Recharge will provide those with a professional interest in renewable energy with the information they need to indentify new business opportunities and master the challenges ahead”.
